So, what is GrumpyBerry?
GrumpyBerry is a curated home for independent filmmakers — a place to share bold shorts, pilots, proof‑of‑concepts, and series experiments with the seriousness they deserve.
Why we’re building this
AI is a tool — not a replacement
We don’t see AI as something that replaces craft, taste, or talented people. And we don’t see it as a temporary trend either. It’s a new set of tools — and like every new tool, it becomes powerful in the hands of creators.
Make big ideas reachable
The best stories don’t always come with big budgets. AI can make production more accessible — helping creators prototype, iterate, and bring ambitious projects to life. We want to embrace that shift, responsibly and transparently.
We’re not “AI-only” — we’re creator-first
GrumpyBerry isn’t limited to AI work. If you make a traditional short film, a documentary, or a series pilot — you’re welcome here too. What matters is the intent, the craft, and the respect for rights. If AI helps you get there, great. If it doesn’t, also great.
What you can publish
Shorts & proof‑of‑concepts
Fast, focused work that shows vision — tone, world, characters, or a single unforgettable scene.
- Short films
- Proof‑of‑concept trailers
- Concept sequences
Pilots & series experiments
Mini‑series, pilots, or episodic ideas — released as a full season or rolled out over time.
- Pilot episodes
- Series seasons (drop or rollout)
- Experimental formats
Credits matter here
We encourage proper credits — directing, editing, sound, VFX, music, tools used, and collaborators. Great work is rarely made alone, and we want creators to be recognized for what they do.
What makes GrumpyBerry different
Curated by design
We’re building a place where audiences can actually watch — not endlessly scroll. Submissions are reviewed, labeled clearly (including AI disclosure), and featured thoughtfully.
Transparent and rights-first
We’re strict about rights: no unlicensed footage, music, voices, or likenesses. If needed, we may ask for proof of licenses — to protect creators, audiences, and the platform.
Originals, too
We’ll also publish GrumpyBerry Originals — our own projects and collaborations — alongside work from the community.
Pricing & monetization
Free to use
GrumpyBerry is free to use. Becoming a creator is free, and submitting work is free. We want the early phase to be about building the community and the catalog together.
Monetization is coming
In the near future, we plan to add monetization — designed to fit independent film releases: payouts, premium features, and other creator-friendly options. We’ll share details as the platform evolves.
Want to be early?
We’re excited — and we know this is a long road. But we believe the next wave of filmmakers will be the ones who use new tools with taste and intention. If that’s you, we’d love to meet you.
